Women are advised to shout 'fire' instead of 'help' in case of an attack because whereas only a few people would respond to a call for help, the whole neighborhood comes together in case of fire. Fire, one of the most destructive forces of the climate crisis, is so contagious that it brings people together and does not allow bystander apathy. Glancing through the history of fire, 'Fire Walk' focuses on one hand on the primordial relationship of the Earth's first fires with plants, and on the other the ways in which fire, an ecological agent, shapes the Earth.
Galerist is pleased to invite you to the book launch and artist talk of Burcu Yağcıoğlu and Ülgen Semerci's recent collaborative publication 'Fire Walk' on December 17th, Saturday. Published by Aşina Project and funded by the European Union, 'Fire Walk' is a part of Burcu Yağcıoğlu and Ülgen Semerci's ongoing collaborative art project which focuses on fire.
