De-composed: Taner Ceylan
Taner Ceylan is exhibiting his new work “De-composed” in Galerist between the dates of 17.12 – 17. 01.2005.
Though Ceylan continues along his realistic manner, there are some major differences between his new and earlier work. In the new series, the reality takes over fiction.
The content of the paintings this time is defined by the artist’s close circle, by his friends and by his personal life.
By de-composing, the act of breaking-up into pieces, Ceylan divides his own existence into its smallest partitions.
In his new visual diary, there are no more fantasies and dreams. In order to understand the details of his existence, the artist generously and modestly presents himself to the viewer without any prejudice.
The gaze of his first lover who took his own life, the handsome bodies he touched past year along the Mediterranean seaside, the terraces of rented hotel rooms, getting lost in the sea, swimming naked in a hotel pool with people, gazing at the innocence of Haluk in a crowd of people, coming across Tolga who is the most beautiful of all females and being ready and willing under the gaze of Alp, the sole owner of everything.
All of the situations above are being described in their purest condition, allowing the radiated melody of the personalities to be heard by the viewer.
The new series of work documents the spiritual evolution of the artist. No more borders, no more fences. The spirit is now ready to fly.
The artist’s musical work De-composed and the writing of Dan Cameron will accompany the exhibition
