Processor: Güçlü Öztekin
Born in 1978 in Eskişehir, Güçlü Öztekin studied painting at the University of Mimar Sinan. Since 2003 the artist’s paintings, performance and video works have been included in many group shows in Istanbul and in London. Öztekin’s first solo show titled ‘Processor’ will be on view at Galerist during the month of November.
The paper works of Güçlü forms the majority of his work in the exhitibition which resemble the cave paintings of the Neolithic, can be received as a result of the performative action/reaction process. The papers, playing as unthought off, and transformed without any control, take their places in a self-developing mechanism. The paper works are the fruits of an instinctive and physical game, resulting from the processes of scratching, pulling off, tearing, bending, painting, and pasting. By assuming the video works as an end to the paper works, and the paper works as an extension to the video works, and by including video in the art and replaying, he appends a new channel to the naturally established mechanism.
Güçlü Öztekin’s first solo show consisting of paper works and video could be seen at Galerist between November 3 – December 2.
