Hunting Season: Erinç Seymen
"Hunting Season" is composed of pieces in diverse media such as painting, printing, drawing, collage and video produced by Erinç Seymen who focused on experimental works containing stickers, performance, photomontage and light-boxes in the last one and a half years.
Exhibition stands as a reaction to the "nevrose nationale" atmosphere, triggered by nationalism aroused in Turkey for the last couple of years.
The works debate the troubles of the individual surrounded by impatience, discrimination and lynch culture along the lines of notions such as the state of belonging, collective identity, social gender, political domination by ironic decontextualizations of ideological symbols and abstracting some dramatic elements.
As with all the solo and group shows that Seymen participates, in ‘Hunting Season’ the artist designs the space as an installation thorough architectural and aural intervention.
“Hunting Season” is open at Galerist from March 31st until April 28th of 2007.
