Yusuf Sevinçli’s (b. 1980) black and white photographs are highly personal as they stem from experience and the emotions surrounding them. In the dreamlike atmosphere that is present in most of the artist’s works, place and time remain uncertain and emphasise upon individual memories within collective spaces. The fleeting images of everyday life have a sense of timelessness inherent to them which draws the spectator forth and establishes a pure bond. Aesthetically and formally, they manifest Sevinçli’s respect and deep engagement with the history of photography.
After completing his bachelor’s degree in communications, Yusuf Sevinçli attended a Masterclass dedicated to documentary photography in Sweden in 2005. Accompanying his first exhibition, the photo book titled Good Dog was published by Filigrees Editions in France in 2012. Followingly, Sevinçli expanded his work in photography with the series titled Marseille, 2014; and Walking (Vichy), 2015.
