The form of this sculpture resembles a shell. One end curves to touch the surface, while the other opens skyward like an outstretched
hand. The sculpture’s centre, a point resembling a woman’s hip, rests on the ground. ‘Güzel Marmara’ is a relic of what has been lost, a
remnant of what is no longer with us. It evokes the many faces of absence: a mermaid leaving her tail behind, a fallen dry leaf, an empty
wine bottle, or beaches that now exist only in photographs.
